Bilingual Lead Clinician & Bilingual Clinicians

ABBOTT HOUSE, an innovative community based social service organization, is seeking a Lead Clinician and Clinicians for our Transitional Resources for Children (TRC) program located in Irvington, NY. Clinician positions are also available with our Long Term Foster Care program in Bronx, NY. Bilingual Spanish is required for both positions.


Lead Clinician Position

Salary - $75,000. annually


  • LCSW, LMSW or LMHC a must + minimum 5 years clinical experience in child welfare. Supervisory experience a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of child welfare/child protective services.
  • Experience with Evidence-Based Models.
  • Strong interest in working with children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong clinical, communication and presentation skills, including the ability to facilitate trainings.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English both written and oral required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Job Summary:

The Lead Clinician works as an integral member of the Abbott House Interdisciplinary treatment team. He or she provides mental health assessments of children, consultation with social work and child care staff, and treatment of children in selected cases.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Mental Health assessments of children in our Transitional Resources for Children programs on a planned and emergency basis.
  • Psycho-diagnostic testing of children when necessary for children and/or treatment planning.
  • Provide individual, family and group therapeutic interventions for children in the programs.
  • Attend regularly scheduled social services treatment team meetings for case reviews and treatment planning for children in residential and community based programs.
  • Assist social services staff in identifying appropriate educational, developmental and mental health services in communities where children reside. Serve as liaison with community mental health providers who are serving children in foster placement with Abbott House.
  • Provide consultation and training to social services staff, child care staff, foster parents, and birth parents on an as-needed basis.
  • Attend clinical staff meetings in which administrative matters, clinical issues, and agency and department function are discussed.
  • Attend monthly continuing education seminar on topics relevant to clinical issues for children in foster care.
  • Provides complete documentation of evaluations and treatments according to agency standards.
  • Any other related duties as required.

Clinician Position

Salary - $60,000. annually


  • Master's Degree required +minimum 5 years clinical experience in child welfare.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English Required. Bicultural a plus.
  • Knowledge of child welfare/child protective services.
  • Experience with Evidence-Based Models.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Valid Driver's License & Car (For Irvington, NY positions only)

Job Summary:

Responsible for the preparation of goal-oriented diagnostic assessments, group counseling, staff training, and program enrichment. Will provide clinical guidance to the Case Managers and Youth Specialist staff and participate and provide expert/professional support in treatment team meetings concerning mental health issues and behavior management. They will also provide clinical guidance and professional support in treatment team that concern the welfare of the program youth.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Will coordinate and provide individual and group counseling services in order to address youth’s behaviors, concerns, and progress in reference to overall bio-psychosocial functioning.

• Responsible for the oversight and execution of all therapeutic requirements for the program, as assigned.

• Crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary

• Responsible for performing initial intake and assessment for safety and trafficking concerns within 48 hours of child’s arrival and onward

• Utilize positive child management techniques including verbal redirection, de-escalations, and physical containment. Reinforce positive behavior by providing healthy, positive incentives for children while maintaining appropriate boundaries with children at all times.

• Provide weekly individual counseling to youth and ongoing individual and crisis intervention

• Gather and properly document all necessary social, medical, and educational information on each child.

• Maintain clinical records and progress notes and submit monthly updates

• Participate in weekly treatment team meetings to provide mental health and educational updates

• Some flexibility is required in terms of evening hours. Will provide on-call clinical support as necessary

• Any other related duties as required.
