Clinical Psychologist

GENERAL SUMMARY

The job of the Clinical Psychologist is to conduct assessments, evaluations and treatment services for children in foster care and to provide education to parents, foster parents and staff on clinical issues related to children. The Clinical Psychologist also assists in the internship/externship program, serves as a consultant to the foster care program and as the agency's MHCU liaison.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

ØPerforms intake assessments, developmental screens and psychological evaluations

ØSupports the department's internship/externship program

ØParticipates in clinical meetings, Family Team Conferences and other meetings as needed

ØConducts psycho-education, collateral sessions and trainings to foster parents and staff

ØProvides consultation to the Treatment Family Foster Care program

ØConducts clinical supervision with the Behavior Specialists as required

ØReviews and tracks the documents for submission to ACS's MHCU

ØServes as the agency's MHCU liaison

ØAttends family court as required

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES

ØProvides therapy to a small caseload of children and/or children their families

ØCompletes treatment plans, session notes, discharge summaries, Medicaid related documents, and progress reports

ØUses evidence based methods to evaluate and track clients’ progress

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (Skills, Knowledge, Ability)

CULTURAL AND SOCIOECONOMIC CHARACTERISTICS:

Ability to interact with and complete assignments in a manner sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics

OTHER:

Good verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work with all age groups

Ability to work flexible hours

Ability to provide supervision

Bi-lingual abilities preferred

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Must have Clinical Psychology Doctoral degree and be licensed.

Must have at least three years of experience working in the child welfare system.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties for this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch or climb stairs. Must be able to travel unassisted and to use a computer.
